Obtained her PhD in structural biology at University Kebangsaan Malaysia. The 2 years FWIS fellowship program has supported her research at University of Sheffield, UK  to learn advanced techniques in X-ray crystallography and X-ray data interpretation in her investigation of protein structure-function relationships.

Winning Project:

Her research was about determining the three dimensional structure of cutinase, a fungal enzyme of great interest to the detergent industry because of its ability to catalyze the breakdown of a much wider range of fatty acids in the presence of water (hydrolysis) than the lipid-degrading enzymes currently used for industrial purposes. It has great potential to increase the efficacy and range of uses of laundry detergents and could also be of interest to the plastics industry. read more>>
