Launched in year 2000, the UNESCO- L’Oréal international fellowships is designed to identify and reward fifteen deserving, committed and talented young women scientists, from all over the world, active in the field of life sciences. With a view to ensuring that a balanced geographical representation is made, a maximum of three young women, from each of the five geo-cultural regions of the world, will be awarded fellowships.

Each of the researchers are awarded up to US$40,000 over two years to help finance her research and will have a unique opportunity to pursue her studies at a renowned institution abroad. Under the UNESCO-L’Oréal International Fellowships, Malaysia now have 4 International Fellows including Tan Yifen, recipient 2010, Dr Chan Yean Yean, recipient 2009, Dr Nyon Mun Peak, recipient 2006 and Dr Suraini Abdul Aziz, recipient 2001.

Interested candidates are invited submit their applications to the Secretariat of the Malaysian National Commission for UNESCO, Ministry of Education, International Relations Division, Level 7, Block E 8, Parcel E, Federal Government Administrative Centre, 62502 Putrajaya, Malaysia by 21st June 2010.
